Dental implant cost is usually the first question patients ask, and the figures online run from about ₹15,000 for the implant alone to ₹1,00,000 for a premium implant with its crown. This guide explains what each part of an implant quote pays for, where the price moves, and what to ask before you agree to anything.
Our patients come from across Mumbai, and many travel from abroad for treatment here, often arriving with two or three quotes that look impossible to compare. Usually they are not quoting the same thing. Once you know the parts, the numbers start to make sense.
What an implant quote actually pays for
A replacement tooth on an implant has three parts. The implant is a small titanium screw placed in the jaw bone, where it acts as the root. The abutment is a short connector screwed onto it. The crown is the visible tooth fixed on top.

On top of the hardware there is the planning: an X-ray or a 3D CBCT scan of the jaw, the surgery itself, and the follow-up visits while the bone heals. Some quotes include all of this. Some quote the implant alone and add the crown later, so a quote that looks low at the start can grow by the time the crown is fitted.
Dental implant cost in Mumbai: typical ranges
These are market ranges for Mumbai, drawn from published price guides in 2026. They are not our prices. Malad and the western suburbs fall within the same ranges. Your own figure depends on your mouth, which is why it comes after an examination.
Ranges are from Star Health's Mumbai implant cost guide and published Mumbai clinic price lists, cross-checked against hospital guides for full-arch implants. Prices change, so treat them as a starting point.
Why the same tooth can cost twice as much
The brand of the implant is the biggest single difference between quotes
An implant from an established system like Nobel Biocare or Straumann can cost roughly double a budget system. The surgery takes the same time. What changes is the decades of research behind the screw, how precisely its parts fit, and whether replacement parts will still exist in fifteen years. That last point is the one patients rarely think about. A crown on an implant can chip or wear out years later. If the implant brand is still made and widely stocked, a new crown is routine. If the brand has disappeared, your dentist may have to improvise a connector. Ask which system a quote uses and how long that company has been making implants.
- Bone grafting. If the bone has shrunk since the tooth was lost, a graft builds it back before or during placement. It adds cost and a few months of healing.
- Sinus lift. For upper back teeth, the sinus sometimes sits too close to place an implant. Raising its floor is a separate procedure.
- Crown material. Zirconia looks more natural and costs more than metal-ceramic.
- Extraction on the same day. Removing a failing tooth and placing the implant at once can save a visit, but it only suits some cases.
What patients worry about, answered
"Will it hurt?" We work to keep implant placement pain-free. We use numbing gel where it helps, give the local anaesthetic carefully, and you are numb before any work starts. Most patients describe a feeling of pressure. Afterwards, expect two or three days of soreness that ordinary painkillers handle.
"Is a cheaper implant a bad implant?" Not necessarily. Several mid-priced systems have good records. The risk with very low quotes is usually what they leave out: no 3D scan, the crown priced separately, or no follow-up included. Compare complete quotes, not headline numbers.
"Can I pay in parts?" The cost naturally splits across the treatment. The implant is placed first, the bone heals for about 6 to 8 weeks in most cases, then the crown is made and fitted. Ask the clinic how payment follows those stages.
What to be careful about
- A price given before anyone has looked at your X-ray. Without a scan, nobody knows whether you need grafting.
- Smoking and uncontrolled diabetes. Both raise the chance of an implant failing to bond with the bone. Your dentist should ask about them before quoting.
- Gum disease elsewhere in the mouth. It needs treating first, or it can spread to the implant later.
- Insurance. Many health policies leave out dental treatment or cover it only after an accident. Read your policy's dental clause before counting on it.
How a written estimate is built at our clinic
Examination and X-ray
Your dentist checks the gap, the neighbouring teeth and your gums, and takes a digital X-ray. If the bone needs measuring in 3D, a CBCT scan is arranged.
Options, side by side
We explain which implant systems suit your case, including Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Osstem and Adin, and whether you need grafting. Where a bridge or a denture would serve you just as well, we say so.
A written estimate before any treatment
You leave with the full cost on paper: implant, abutment, crown, any grafting and the follow-up visits. Nothing starts until you have read it and decided.
Gurukrupa is ISO 9001 certified and a Nobel Biocare authorised centre on Marve Road, Malad West. Implant dentistry is a main focus for Dr. Suresh Isawe. We also plan treatment for patients flying in from the Gulf, the UK, the US, Australia and New Zealand, so the visits fit around a trip. You can read more about our dentists, see real cases, and learn about the different types of implants before you visit.
Common questions
How much does a single dental implant cost in Mumbai?
Most single implants with a crown fall between ₹30,000 and ₹1,00,000 in Mumbai. The implant brand and any bone grafting decide where in that range your case sits.
How long does a dental implant last?
The implant itself often lasts decades with good cleaning and regular check-ups. The crown on top wears with chewing and may need replacing one day, which is a simpler job.
Is an implant cheaper than a bridge in the long run?
An implant costs more at the start. A bridge needs the two neighbouring teeth trimmed and eventually needs replacing, so over a lifetime the difference narrows.
Do I need a CBCT scan before an implant?
Not always. A regular X-ray is enough for some cases, but a 3D scan shows the bone's width and nearby nerves, and most complex cases need one.
