Full mouth implants replace a whole arch of teeth with a few implants and a fixed bridge or denture. We plan each case after checking your bone.

When most or all teeth in a jaw are lost or failing, a full mouth implant plan uses four to six implants to carry a full arch of teeth. The teeth are either fixed in place or snap onto the implants as a denture. This is a larger decision than a single tooth, so the first visit is mostly assessment.
At our Malad West clinic, our dentists (oral implantology, prosthodontic and smile design work) and Dr. Aanchal Sahni, our gum specialist (MDS in Periodontology and Oral Implantology), plan these cases together. We offer All-on-4 and All-on-6 designs, and use Nobel Biocare, Straumann, Osstem and Adin implant systems.
Four implants carry a fixed set of teeth, with the back implants angled to use the available bone. It can avoid bone grafting in some jaws. With fewer implants, each one carries more load, so planning matters.
Six implants support the fixed teeth, spreading the bite load across more points. It may suit good bone and a heavy bite. It involves more surgery than All-on-4.
A bridge attached to the implants that you do not remove at home. It needs careful cleaning underneath, with floss threaders or a water flosser.
A denture that clips onto implants and comes out for cleaning. It often needs fewer implants and is easier to clean. It suits some people better than a fixed bridge.
We examine your gums, bite and general health, and take an OPG X-ray and, where the case needs it, a 3D scan (CBCT) to see bone height, width and nerve positions. This shows how many implants fit and whether grafting is needed.
We go through the options, fixed or removable, All-on-4 or All-on-6, and the likely timeline. Remaining teeth that cannot be saved are planned for removal.
Implants are usually placed under local anaesthesia, and we discuss at planning whether a full-arch case needs anything more. You feel pressure, and the area is sore and swollen afterwards. Temporary teeth fitted soon after surgery, called immediate loading, are possible only in eligible cases.
The implants fuse with the bone over a few months, usually longer in the upper jaw than the lower. You wear a temporary set or a modified denture and eat soft food.
Once the implants are stable, we take impressions and fit the final bridge or denture. We check the bite, teach you to clean it and see you regularly.

A complete denture needs no surgery. It is a reasonable choice for people who are not fit for surgery or who do not want implants. It can loosen as the jawbone shrinks. Two to four implants holding a denture is a middle option.
Not everyone is a candidate. Uncontrolled diabetes, smoking, untreated gum disease and some medical conditions or treatments can lower the chance of implants healing well, so we review your medical history and may ask you to sort these out first, or advise against implants. Severe bone loss may need grafting, which adds time. Implants can also fail or become inflamed, so they need lifelong care. We may suggest a bridge for a few missing teeth instead of a full arch.

Planning and surgery come first, then usually a few months of healing before the permanent teeth are fitted. Grafting or extractions add time.
Only in selected cases, and the teeth are temporary. Immediate loading depends on bone quality and implant stability, and we confirm this at planning and again during surgery.
Yes. An OPG X-ray, and a 3D scan where the case needs one, show how much bone you have and where the nerves lie.
If your diabetes is well controlled, it is often possible. If it is not controlled, healing is affected, and we may ask you to see your doctor first.
It varies. Implants can last many years with good cleaning and regular check-ups, but the teeth on top wear or chip and may need repair or replacement. Gum inflammation around implants is the main threat.
Typical Duration
Commonly 3 to 6 months from surgery to final teeth, after planning
